It was a successful night, but I wish I had far more money to put toward this. I found SO MANY more than I thought I would. I need more burgers when I go out. I want to DO more, GIVE more, and be PRESENT more. Continue reading
I have previously written about taking to the night to feed the homeless. I buy value burgers at McDonald’s, and maybe some cans of pop, and distribute them downtown to anyone I can find who is homeless or in need.
Charity isn’t just a daytime activity. Need is most keenly felt at night. Imagine being cold, alone, hungry, and in the dark. Tonight I brave the night again, bringing food and smiles into the darkest, loneliest spots I can find.
I have registered a domain name for this category- BraveTheNight.com- which will bring readers to this site, showing them all posts in this new category. Sometimes looking where I normally wouldn’t provides smiles. I looked up and saw this over a path I take to go somewhere. All across Canada I have encountered these brighten-your-day booby traps. I love that some people care enough about others to leave these smile traps around for them.
I think it could also be an effort to encourage people to be mindful of the world around them, and not just focus on their destination. It’s a reminder that sometimes I miss chances to smile when I am only thinking about/looking toward where I want to be.
